Yami Sushi & Teriyaki: Experience Exquisite Sushi and Authentic Teriyaki in Gresham

This is one of my favorite places now! The sushi is great, slightly expensive, but they're MASSIVE. They're a bit of a struggle to eat due to their size, but they're still made well, not falling apart when you pick them up. The service is also very good; the waitresses were both very pleasant, quickly seated us, and were very attentive during the meal. We also didn't have to wait long for our food. Store is very nicely decorated and is clean. Love sitting down and looking at all the decorations around the area. The only thing I didn't like was the calamari. It doesn't look like real squid, there were no tentacles (the best part), and weren't fully covered in the batter, but still pretty good.

I can say this is one of my best sushi spots on the east side of Portland and Gresham. If you are a sushi fan, you have to give this place a try. The sushi rice is done right. Some place it is either too sweet or too vinegary. There is a decent selection of sake and Japanese beers to pair along with your meal. The shave ice with fruits dessert is refreshing and light. Both of the strawberry and mango didn't disappoint. This place can get really busy and full really quick during meal time.

It's only February and I've already gone to eat at this restaurant 3x. The service is always good, the servers are friendly and welcoming. The food is ready in a good time manner. My personal favorite is the spicy ramen. It's a bit pricey but the portions are reasonable. I definitely recommend and hope to go again soon.

A nice very clean place. Friendly attentive staff. The food is good, above average. It came out very fast so it must have been made ahead of time except for the sushi. The sushi platter was made when ordered. I've had fresher sushi. The rolls were better than the sushi. The best roll was the Crunch. The Ramen was delicious and hearty; the hard boiled egg was surprisingly good. The Chicken Teriyaki was nothing special.

This is a great place for good food and families. The sushi was excellent, the dishes were tasty and the service was great. Highly recommend the shaved mango and strawberry ice dessert. I would definitely come back here again!

Oh my god man. The California roll (with crab/cucumber/avocado) is AMAZING. This place is awesome!! I didn't like sushi before coming here. Get this exact same thing (California roll, also shrimp nigiri×2 with spicy mayo) and the soy sauce is good too! I didn't want it but they know what's up, it was fantastic with it. Thank you so muchhhhhhh I'll be back for pick up orders, and to show people how amazing this place is

We had such a wonderful meal here and we will definitely be back! It is very close to our house and very convenient. The service was fantastic and the positive attitudes of all the workers put smiles on our faces. The food was some of the best we've had recently, and the amount of sake available will definitely bring us back. The atmosphere was warm, yet lively, and we felt they wanted us to be there.

Way too big to eat. I want to stress that I only had ONE issue with this place. Every other thing about it was lovely. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly, the place was lovely and clean, and the other food and drink were delicious. The issue was with the sushi rolls. They were massive, almost the size of my palm. When we received ours, we looked around at other tables to see if that was the case and yes, all the other tables had massive rolls. The ingredients in all of the rolls were delicious and quality, but the rolls were so large that there was no way to eat it in one piece - I nearly choked trying, and even attempting to eat it in one piece was a challenge as it had no structural integrity, and would fall to pieces in the middle, and eating it in bites meant you couldn’t have all the ingredients at once. (Again, no issue with ingredients, just size/proportions) When we voiced our concern about this (twice) to our waiter, they laughed it off like it was not a real concern. They were wonderful otherwise, but it felt dismissive. I know some people might enjoy a jumbo sized roll, but that should be an option, not the standard. I don’t think I’ve ever had an unpleasant sushi experience before, but after nearly choking on a roll I should’ve been able to eat normally- I don’t feel so inclined to return. Anyway! So long as you prepare yourself for the size of these inelegant but absolutely scrumptious logs of sushi, it’s a wonderful place that I would recommend.
